Which card should you bring for your rental car deposit? Here is what we accept and what we don't at pick-up.

Accepted for the deposit

The deposit is taken at pick-up, as a pre-authorisation on your card, or in cash.
Tunisia Rent Car does not charge the deposit: the pre-authorisation is released, or the cash returned, once the car has been checked on return.
The amount depends on the car, from €590. It is shown on each car page and during booking.
The deposit covers the excess in the event of an at-fault accident, damage with no identified third party, or theft.

Check with your bank that your card limit covers the deposit amount.
AMEX and Maestro cards are not accepted for the deposit, nor are foreign cheques: bring a Visa or Mastercard, credit or debit, or cash.
The rental itself is paid on site; cash is accepted in any currency.

Which cards do you accept for the deposit?

We accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards and debit cards. The deposit can also be left in cash.

Can I leave the deposit in cash?

Yes, the deposit can be left in cash. It is returned to you once the car has been checked on return.

Do you accept a debit card for the deposit?

Yes, a Visa or Mastercard debit card is accepted for the deposit, just like a credit card.

Can I pay the deposit with American Express or Maestro?

No, American Express (AMEX) and Maestro cards are not accepted for the deposit.

Do you accept a foreign cheque for the deposit?

No, foreign cheques are not accepted.

Is the deposit charged to my card?

No. It is a pre-authorisation, released once the car has been checked on return.

It depends on the car, from €590. The amount is shown on each car page and during booking.
